- Move to Redhat/Suse fork of RPM for cross-distro consistency and ease of maintenance
- Use geoip technology to make repository configuration transparent and prepare for error management for Mandriva Linux 2009

- Move to Fedora version of mkinitrd for ease of maintenance

- New kernel version: instead of using 2008 kernel (as per 2007 / 2007 Spring), we will provide new version as things are going very fast, to improve hardware support

Continue to clean and streamline installer, and work on diskdrake
[edit] Parental Control
Provide a drakxtool dedicated to parental control with the main features required in such a tool

Provide easy to use tool to recover all system at a given date (cf. 'system restore points' in Windows)

Clean msec and integrate AppArmor default profiles in security tools

- Add mail migration support
- Add Windows Vista support

- KDE3 will remain the default as KDE4 is a bit too young
- Provide very integrated version of KDE4, no longer in /contrib

PulseAudio as default server for all desktops: make use of sound peripheral easy and efficient for multimedia applications

2008.1 will provide some focused applications based on success in open source applications field. We will ask for proposals for these applications

Improve languages support, bring some more tools to help people working on it
