Mandriva Linux 2010: patch review week

Mandriva Linux patch review week will take place from 8th to 14th of June 2009. Main goal is to clean existing patches in our SRPMs and submit some to upstream projects. Here are the main focus to follow:

Check existing patches

  • Not valid anymore: remove it
  • Still valid: patches should come with comment in spec files, check following information in spec file
    • when was it added (package release) ?
    • where does it come from (SVN, CVS, GIT, author name if contributed, ...) ?
    • short description
    • bugs corrected by this patch (bug report number, even from another distribution or from upstream)

Submit patches upstream

Patches should be submitted upstream: it's the way open source works, it makes coming maintainance easier. When patch has been submitted, try to add upstream bug number (if available) to specfile, for easier tracking.

Target

Priority is put on main repository, contrib can also be worked on.

Manage patches using git

git can be really helpfull to manage your patches. You can have a look below:

Feedbacks

In order to improve further patches week we need some feedbacks on what will be done during theses days. Please keep apart information such as:
