Information on various KDE Applets (KApplets):
Contents |
[edit] k3b
This is the CD/DVD burning application.
CSS encrypted DVD's can be copied if the libdvdcss library is installed on the system. The k3b program dynamically checks to see if the library is installed; no special version is required. The library can be obtained at http://download.videolan.org/pub/libdvdcss/
[edit] KWeather
Fancy up to date weather forecasts for your area? At the touch of a button? KWeather gives you this on a kicker button. To configure it you need to know the ICAO code for your nearest airfield supplying weather information. This is available for any airfield in any country from http://www.nws.noaa.gov/tg/siteloc.shtml
[edit] KGamma
A simple application that installs into the KDE control center under LookNFeel. Check and adjust the gamma and colour balance of your monitor. It's easy to use, as the Help button leads you on to a manual that leads you through it step by step. The version for 9.2 is available from http://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=kgamma&submit=Search+
[edit] KLineakconfig
If you have a keyboard with all kinds of fancy keys on it, (such as Logitech or a laptop), you can easily assign the extra keys to various functions.
These can be either those labelled, such as email, web, sleep etc, or command toggles such as xmms --play-pause
Here´s a quick guide on setting this up, using the 0.8x release:
- Go to the lineak site here and check if your keyboard is supported
- Assuming all is well, or you are willing to ´roll-your own´, download the lineak packages from Charles Edwards´ site
- Download klineakconfig 0.8y (at the time of writing this was available from borgnet
- Install everything
- IMPORTANT STEPS BELOW!
- Create a .lineak directory in your home directory
$ mkdir ~/.lineak
- Copy the keyboard definitions file to the (invisible) lineak directory
$ cp /etc/lineakkb.def ~/.lineak/
- Create a .lineak directory in your home directory
- launch klineakconfig from KDE System-> Configuration-> Hardware, and you should be all set to assign your keys!
