Creative WebCam
- This webcam comes in two versions. One of them is the ep800 (Endpoints 800) chipset for which a kernel module needs to be compiled. The vendor ID is 0x041e and the product ID is 0x400d. The source code for the kernel module can be downloaded from http://epcam.sourceforge.net/ and has now been released as version 1.3.2 (as of 20th August 2011) - An older version of the module compiled and ran fine on Mandriva 2010.1 Spring Powerpack.
NX Pro
- Mandriva 10.1 doesn't recognized the webcam out of the box. There is no module for. I try to install the Zc030x driver(http://zc0302.sourceforge.net) but the install failed so the webcam is not usable in Mandriva Linux 10.1
Vista
- This webcam works under Mandriva 2006 using the dkms-spca5xx package. Quality is not too good yet, but neither is the webcam. I had to do no work whatsoever to make it work, just install the package.
Genius
Genius Look 316
- This webcam is sold with Linux 2.6 support which is also written on the box in which the webcam is sold and it has been successfully tested on Mandriva 2010.2 with 2.6.36.2-desktop-2mnb from the Backports repository using the application "Cheese".
Logitech
QuickCam Pro 4000
- Now it works with GnomeMeeting (without sound though...), to avoid error about YUV420 I had to install pwcx from http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/
- There was a bug - at first - making freeze or reboot Mandriva 9.2 though it worked nearly flawlessly with Mandriva 9.1. This bug and its correction is described in the errata http://www1.mandrivalinux.com/en/92errata.php3#webcam (just upgrade kernel)
- I still have to get xawtv to work (worked in 9.1...), I currently get a segfault (BenoitAudouard)
QuickCam S 5500
- certified fully working from Mandriva Linux 2009 Spring, available from Mandriva Store.
Packard Bell
DCW-1
- I could not get this to work or to find a supported driver for it.
Philips
ToUcam Pro
- Worked with Camstream out of the box (AnneWilson)
TRENDnet
TV-IP100
- Relatively cheap webcam.
- It has a webserver, so it has an ethernet port which I hooked to my router. They do have a wireless version, but i have't tried it yet. The funny thing is that my camera's case says it's wireless, so their quality control is a little off I think.
- Since the webcam ip was factory set to 192.168.0.20, which is not on my routers subnet, I had to run this at the cli to browse to it: *route add -host 192.168.0.20 eth0*
