[edit] Read the documentation
[edit] Read the relevant Errata and Release Notes pages
The Errata page for each Mandriva Linux release explains known problems in the release, along with advice on how to fix or work around them. Your issue may well already be listed. The list of Errata pages is located here. The Release Notes page for each Mandriva Linux release gives general information on the release, along with important information on changes from previous releases. The list of Release Notes pages is located here.
[edit] Read the documentation on the Wiki
This Wiki contains several items of documentation for users, which may cover the area you are having trouble with. All end user documentation can be found in this section. You will find instructions on choosing a Mandriva Linux edition, installing Mandriva Linux, installing and removing software, system administration, hardware troubleshooting, and more.
[edit] Read the manual pages
You might want to know how a given program works. Virtually all programs are documented with a manual page. To know how 'program' works, do man program. Thus a good start is to do man man.
Many programs also come with their own documentation that you can find in /usr/share/doc/.
Many people, however, find that reading man pages in this way is difficult. In particular, a formatted print of a man page can be extremely helpful. Konqueror can help with this. Open Konqueror, then, for example man:md5sum will show the man page for md5sum formatted for easy reading and printing.
[edit] Check the hardware compatibility
If you are still experiencing trouble, check that your hardware is supported by Mandriva Linux:
- Mandriva Linux Community Hardware Compatibility List
- Hardware Compatibility pages: Check here for all kinds of info about what hardware runs really well or really poorly. If you have some experience with particular hardware or hardware combinations, please complete the list.
[edit] Consult the bug tracking system
Finally, check that your problem is not a known bug by searching the Mandriva Bugzilla bug tracking system.
[edit] Request support
If you have been through all this, you can request support.
