Hi, If you were given this link then you need to install the ATI proprietary driver.
If you installed Mandriva using the Free DVD and now you want to take full advantage of your ATI display card then you need to install the proprietary driver. Assuming you are using Mandriva 2008 spring (aka 2008.1): [The steps here still apply to the 2008.0 release with some few changes, mainly in the way you add the Mandriva official repositories, just different names for the same thing]
- Add the Mandriva official repositories as per instructions here
- If you are running Mandriva 2008.0 then after adding the repositories make sure to enable the non-free and the non-free updates repositories. There should be two check marks beside the non-free updates in order to enable it as an update repository.
- Open the Mandriva Control Centre (aka Configure Your Computer): open Menu> Run Command and type mcc press Enter then enter your root password and press Enter again.
- Go to Hardware> Set up the graphical server> Graphics Card.
- Reselect your display card group.
- You will get this message:
- There is a proprietary driver available for your video card which may support additional features. Do you wish to use it?. Simply click Yes.
- Now log out then log back in.
