KDE

  • Postponed for 9.1: 
   * Allow all entries in K menu to be added/removed using menu. It means that:
         o Bookmarks
         o Recent Documents
         o Quick Browser
         o Run Command
         o Configure Panel should be removed using menudrake
   * In kdesktop, don't wrap icons names in a word (for example, don't cut "Community" in "Commun" and "ity"
   * Animated icons for directories?
   * Key used on Windows compatible keayboard to emulate a right clic should emulate a right clic
   * Second Windows menu key should open K menu (first Windows menu key should also open K menu)
   * Add floppy/cdrom in konqueror sidebar

   * Allow user or administrator to disable:
         o Lock Screen
         o Logout screen in K menu. Goal is to allow administrator to forbid usage of these actions. Logout/Shutdown applet should be also removed if one of these actions is disable

   * Split kpackage from kdeadmin and don't install by default. Goal is to not confuse user with RPMDrake because kpackage doesn't handle dependencies (which is not good at all for Joe user who doesn't even know what is a dependency)
   * When use "Find" in QMultiLineEdit?, highlight the found word

   * Close onglet go to next tab and not previous tab
   * clicking on a tab make tabs bar scrolling right until the clicked tab is the last on the right screen.
   * full screen mode with only the khtml widget and maybe a button to switch back to windowed mode (or just a new item in the contextuel menu)
   * Fix konqueror logout => re-open with sidebar open :(
   * imho, there should be no scrolling !! bug: open links after current page option does not work: newly opened tabs are placed at the end of the tabs bar the "allow images only from this site" option is very useful in other browsers
  • kdm sugestion : 
 I took a look at it last night and I immediately felt I knew the reason behind the redesign: Newbies. If you stand back and look at it from the right perspective, it looks like an attempt to copy the XP login manager, only instead of having the Icon's and names on the background, it's all in a window.
 XP works fairly similar in that you have to click on a name before you get a password prompt. Also, it hides administrator users as well.
 Overall, it's got potential. Some things I'd like to see fixed (if they haven't been already) are:
 * Don't make the any of the buttons at the bottom of the dialog have focus. This way enter won't reboot or halt the computer.
 * If possible, make an option to have the names and icons drawn on the desktop like XP with themable placement.
 * In keeping with recent discussions on switching users, one thing XP does that this login manager is ideal for is showing who's logged in already and if there are programs running for that user. Perhaps grayscaling or fading the icon for logged in users and have a line under is saying "XX open applications". you could filter out GNOME or KDE desktop related processes to show "apps".
