Talk:Install & remove Software

Skiper Do you care to explain why you have altered '|' back to '-'? There is no one able to give a working demonstration of '-' In fact it does not work.
- Please do not shout.
- When you search in rpmdrake, you type kernel-desktop-latest for example. Not kernel|desktop|latest as I know. It is also always written with '-' in the package list and in the console. So if there is a problem, it may be explained in a bad way or there may be a misunderstanding. Remember this page comes from the french wiki and is there since a very long time. No one has found this error there so I don't see what is wrong and why it should be '|'.

Well being pragmatic and getting the job done is my aim here. I understand it has been in the French wiki for a long time, but your explanation does not help. Isn't the kernel named with the '-' already? And where do the multiple keywords come in? I have translated the stuff to Norwegian and one important part of it is that it has to make sense. And it does not - not to anyone here. Even if there should be some package names with spaces in them, the documentation is still not good. If you ask a new user of Mandriva who is reading it he will not easily understand the meaning.
He would understand that kernel|desktop|latest would give him any package containing kernel and desktop and latest. That makes sense in a search function. kernel-latest-desktop seems to be a reminder to write the names correctly and with precession. One of the main functions for a search function is to write part of the name and getting the rest via the output.
Sorry about the shouting no harm intended I have edited it :)

- Well, as I see, this is another search function that actually works. If you could write une sentence or two, with an example using |, it would be good. Thanks. Skiper 13:56, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
