Canon

UYARI !
  • Canon yazıcılar Linux ile çok uyumlu değildir. İmkanınız varsa HP yazıcı alın.
  • Mutlaka bir Canon yazıcı kullanmak istiyorsanız Mandriva Linux yerine Fedora Linux veya ücretli olan Redhat Linux kullanın.
  • Mandriva Linux 2009.1 sürümünden itibaren Canon sürücüleri sunmaktadır ancak bu sürücüler tüm yazıcılar için çalışmamaktadır.
  • Canon, bir kaç yıldır GPL lisanslı sürücüler yayınlamaktadır. Ancak bu sürücüler Mandriva Linux ile uyumlu değildir.
  • Canon yazıcınız, sisteme bağlandığında Mandriva tarafından algılanırsa; kullanılabilecek sürücüler kendiliğinden kurulur.
  • Canon yazıcınız Mandriva tarafından algılanmazsa aşağıdaki yöntemleri deneyebilirsiniz.


Canon tarafından yayınlanan sürücüler

  • From the general menu → Tools → System tools → Printer, right-click on your printer and delete it. You'll be asked the "root" password before that.
  • Go to Canon Asia's web site and download the drivers you need. Be careful: the ones you need are the ".rpm" files ("rpm" is an abbreviation meaning "RedHat package management", the system used by Mandriva Linux). There should be 2 rpm files: one whose name includes the word "common", and another more specific to your printer (typically with your printer's model in the file name). For instance, for a Canon Pixma iP3300, the 2 files to download are "IJ Printer Driver Ver. 2.70 for Linux (rpm Common package)" (the download exact file name is cnijfilter-common-2.70-1.i386.rpm) and "IJ Printer Driver Ver. 2.70 for Linux (rpm Package for iP3300)" (file name: cnijfilter-ip3300-2.70-2.i386.rpm).
  • In Dolphin, or any file manager, double-click first on the "common" rpm file. You will then be ask what to do with it: choose "Install". You'll be asked for the "root" password. The double-click on the specific rpm file to install it the same way.
  • Pray hard.
  • Try to print, for instance from OpenOffice.org.
  • If it doesn't work, restart your computer and try again.
  • If it still doesn't work, then from the general menu → Tools → System tools → Configure your computer → Install and remove software, in the left rolling menu choose "All". Then in the "Find" field, type "gutenprint", unselect all the installed packages containing the word "gutenprint". You'll be warned that the "task-printing-canon" packages will be also uninstalled. If you have another Canon printer, it may need it. You may also be warned that the "task-printing-HP", for instance, will be uninstalled. You may have an HP printer which needs it. If you want to test, accept however (You'll be able to reinstall these package later if you want.). The click on "Apply". Close. Restart your computer. Try to print again.

Drivers from ZEDOnet

If it still doesn't work, there is a German company selling quite expensive "TurboPrint" Linux driver licenses for Canon printers. If you have a printer-scanner, it would only work for the printing part. You can test the driver one month before deciding to buy it or not.

Canon i250 and old Mandriva 10.1

  • All versions of Mandriva Linux up to Şablon:Version do not support it natively. You should download the drivers from one of the Canon Official Sites - [[1][Canon i250 Drivers for Linux]]. You can use the rpms or you can compile from source. You should download and install both Şablon:File and Şablon:File .

Canon i250

You should download the very same drivers as above but before installing them some steps should be followed.

As this driver needs very old libraries, as root you have to 

      cd /usr/lib                              (may be /usr/lib64 for 64 bits version) 
      ln -s libglade-2.0.so.0   libglade.so.0
      ln -s libpng.so.3  libpng.so.2
      ln -s libgmodule-2.0.so.0   libgmodule-1.2.so.0

Back in the directory where the files are downloaded 

      urpmi --allow-nodeps bjfilteri250-2.3-0.i386.rpm
      urpmi --allow-nodeps bjfiltercups-2.3-0.i386.rpm

and answer yes when/if you're asked if you want to continue

If you are using mandriva 64 bits, you should also 

      cp /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstocanonbj /usr/lib64/cups/filter/

Restart the cups deamon (maybe not needed but it won't hurt) 

   /etc/init.d/cups restart

You can now go in the MCC (menu → Tools → System tools → Configure your computer → Hardware → Manage printers, spoolers ...) and install your i250.

Known bug : The cartridge ink level is not displayed in the interface.

OfficeJet G85 Multi-Function

  • Tek bir sayfaya birden çok sayfa yazdırma ve çift yönlü yazdırma işlemleri çalışmaktadır.
  • 1200 dpi çözünürlüğe kadar fotoğraf baskısı yapılabilmektedir.
  • Tarayıcı işlevi oldukça iyi çalışmaktadır.
  • HPIJS sürücüsü ve cups, ghostscript, foomatic kullanmaktadır.


HP LaserJet serisi

HP LaserJet 3300mfp

This is for Laserjet 3330mfp and the print server jetdirect 175x.

Works great when using HPIJS and HPOJ drivers. I used HPIJS + Ghoast script as the driver. However, if using Postscript as driver, printing images will be very slow.

The print server jetdirect 175X connected to my Router (D-Link 624) works perfectly. The only modification i did was in MCC, coofiguring the printer. I inserted the IP address my router assigned to the connecting printer. Printing, scanning works as it should. Never tried the fax through PC though. I simply fax directly from the device.


HP LaserJet 1300

  • HP provides a PPD file on the installation CD that only has to be placed in /usr/share/cups/model to make the driver available to CUPS. Full 1200x1200 dpi is available and the printer functions as expected. Output is dark and precise. HP LaserJet 6L

  • Mandriva Linux 10.1 sürümünden itibaren kendiliğinden algılanmakta ve oldukça düzgün çalışmaktadır.

HP LaserJet IIIp

  • This is a Postscript printer, so it works well with any UNIX system.


HP PhotoSmart series

HP Photosmart 7260

  • HPIJS needed to be updated to 1.5 on my MDK Şablon:Version install. Believe Şablon:Version also needs this update. Be sure to print through ptal (rather than straight to USB) if you want 2 way comms (to read memory cards etc.)


HP All-in-One series (printer/scanner/copier) (HP PSC)

HP PSC 500

  • Printer should be auto-detected and auto-installed, including scanning, under Mandriva Linux Şablon:Version and Şablon:Version . Printerdrake will see it as an HP Officejet R40 and it should work well as auto-configured. You can also choose the printer directly from the menu (PSC 500). Best results with driver 'hpijs'. To scan, use 'scanimage.' DO NOT use 'scannerdrake' (see Printerdrake "How to use this printer" for details).

HP PSC 1110

  • This is a low cost 3-in-1 colour inkjet printer, scanner and copier. Printerdrake automatically configures the print settings of the 1110 correctly. However, for scanner support, you will need to install the hpioa sane library as well as the xsane GUI application manually.

HP PSC 1210

  • Mandriva Linux üzerinde sorunsuz çalışmaktadır.

HP PSC 1350

  • This is a slick all-in-one printer/copier/scanner that also includes slots for reading multi-media cards directly. Mandriva Linux Şablon:Version found the printer and correctly identified it as a printer/scanner, but seems to have gotten confused over what driver to use. I found the correct diver on http://hpoj.sourceforge.net/suplist.shtml (very usefull). See PSC 1350 details
  • This printer is really all plug and play when using Mandriva Şablon:Version . Just go to MCC and check it! I had to go to MCC just to check whether the scanner was properly set and having a look at partitions I could see that the card reader was already set and running, mounted at Şablon:File (Şablon:File ), as soon as you insert the card and see the light blinking. The driver (hpijs) was automatically installed.

HP PSC 1510

  • Mürekkep püskürtmeli bir yazıcıdır.
  • Sadece USB bağlantısı vardır.
  • Tarayıcı, yazıcı ve fotokopi işlevlerini yerine getirir.
  • Mandriva Linux 2008.1 ve üzeri sürümlerinde Mandriva Yazıcı aracı (printerdrake veya system-config-printer) tarafından kolaylıkla yapılandırılmaktadır.
  • Yazdırma işlemi için HPLIP sürücüsünü kullanır.
  • Tarayıcı işlevi de sorunsuz biçimde Mandriva Linux 2008.1 ve üstü sürümlerde çalışmaktadır.
  • Mandriva Linux 2010.0 sürümünde ise tarayıcı işlevini kullanabilmek için kendiliğinden kurulmayan libsane-hpaio1 (x86_64 mimarilerinde lib64sane-hpaio1) paketi elle kurulmalıdır.

HP PSC 1610

  • Printer was auto-detected and installed under Mandriva linux Şablon:Version as HP PSC 1600 series.


HP PSC 2175

  • Printer was auto-detected and installed under Şablon:Version and Şablon:Version . Uses driver 'hpijs' for best results. Scanning was also setup and installed with same driver during the initial installation. See HP PSC 2175 at www.linuxprinting.org

Kyocera-Mita

Kyocera-Mita FS1000+ (b/w Laser)

  • Not recognised during setup in Şablon:Version but easily configured by PrinterDrake with excellent results (very low TCO)


Lexmark


Lexmark Z32

  • Contadictory results from 2 users:
    • Follow exactly the documentation provided by Mandriva. In Şablon:Version it is doable. In Şablon:Version upto Şablon:Version it is easy. B/W printing is good: I did not have problems aligning the cartridges; I never got around to trying colour, but it should work, because I know the printer is capable of it.
    • Have had some issues with this printer in Şablon:Version . The cartridges never seem to align properly even with the Mandriva tool included in the System > Configuration > Printing > Lexmark menu. The binary only Lexmark driver is pretty lousy and cannot print using CUPS. Personally, I'd go and buy an EPSON instead.


Lexmark Z53

  • My Lexmark Z53 has always been a problem child when it comes to CUPS. Same with other Lexmarks I've owned, like the Z11 and the Z22, such that I probably won't ever buy another printer of this brand. Problems I've encountered include:
    • No head alignment tools provided.
    • Default color settings are very poor when compared to a print job from a Windows machine.
    • Not all of the drivers provided actually work with the printer.
    • Default "printable area" settings aren't true to the actual printable area for this device. If you print from some applications, you find that you loose half a line of text at the very top.


Samsung laser printers

Samsung ML-1740

Drivers for Linux are available on Samsung's web site. The installation was easy for me on Mandriva Şablon:Version and Şablon:Version.

  • Download the driver and untar it
  • su
  • cd "path_to_untared_archive"/image
  • ./setup.sh
  • Follow the instructions to install the driver files
  • linux-config
  • Follow the instructions to configure the printer

The printer will then be accessible through CUPS (and to the Mandriva's configurations tools).

NOTE: CUPS has to be installed BEFORE the installation of Samsung's driver.


Samsung ML-2010

Drivers for Linux are available on Samsung's web site. The installation was done on Mandriva Şablon:Version .

  • Download the driver and untar it
  • su
  • cd "path_to_untared_archive"/image
  • ./setup.sh
  • Follow the instructions to install the driver files
  • linux-config
  • Follow the instructions to configure the printer

The printer will then be accessible through CUPS (and to the Mandriva's configurations tools).
