GRAMPS (Genealogical Research and Analysis Management Programming System)

This is a great open-source genealogy program (family tree maker) written for Linux PCs. It is written in Python and uses the GTK/GNOME interface. However, it runs perfectly under KDE.

In order to use the latest version of GRAMPS (1.0.2) with Mandriva Linux 10.0 Community (or Mandriva 9.2) - you'll need to install the following RPMS on top of a standard install. All of these packages can be found in the contrib folder or with http://rpm.pbone.net

  • gnome-python-2.0.0-2mdk.i586.rpm
  • gnome-python-bonobo-2.0.0-2mdk.i586.rpm
  • gnome-python-canvas-2.0.0-2mdk.i586.rpm

  • pygtk2.0-libglade-2.0.0-2mdk.i586.rpm
  • pyorbit-2.0.0-1mdk.i586.rpm
